A sustainable natural environment
Our Mission
To facilitate, link and support Manly, Pittwater and Warringah Communities
in the creation of a sustainable natural environment through.
- increasing community awareness, education and involvement
- supporting, managing and promoting collaborative community based projects
and innovative approaches
- advocating effective sustainable management, integrated planning and strategic
processes
Long term goals
- Communities working together to achieve an ecologically sustainable environment
- Protect biodiversity and enhance ecological communities
- Enhance natural values and quality living through effective sustainable management,
integrated planning and decision processes
Key objectives
- Increase community awareness and education about the environment and its values
- Support existing community based projects and promote innovative solutions
to enhance biodiversity
- Promote community values
- Empower the community to participate and actively care for the environment
- Promote bush, parks, waterways, beach and marine resources, biodiversity and
management linkages
- Endeavour to influence regional and locally significant management, planning
and decision processes through principled advocacy
Key Actions
- Conduct collaborative practical activity field days
- Conduct skills development workshops
- Enhance community networks
- Recruit new members
- Secure member, private sector and public funds and resources to develop community
capabilities
- Manage $1 million Greenlink project
- Support select community based collaborative projects and grant applications
- Promote successful projects and initiatives valuing collaborative and volunteer
efforts
- Representation at various local and state committees (eg Catchment boards,
NCC, various council Committees, noxious weeds)
- Conduct collaborative regional strategic needs seminar
- Develop position papers (eg Section 94 policies, SEPP implications)
- Advocate improved management, planning and decision making at local, state
and federal levels
- Enhance influence network (eg Apolitical, agencies, community leaders).
